Opening Reception:
Immediately after the first day's lectures, at 19:00, in the main lobby
of the IAS. Light refreshments and some words of greetings by the director
of the IAS and the school directors.
Israel Museum:
Tuesday, December 30, after the school activities.
The Israel Museum exhibits both archeology and art.
The museum is open until late on Tuesday evenings.
A guide will meet the group at the museum enterance at 19:30.
The museum is about 10 minute walk (east) from the campus main gate.
New Year's Party:
Wednesday, December 31, at Almora Restaurant.
Departure by bus from the Campus entrance at 20:00 and from the
Park Plaza hotel at 20:15.
The idea is to have a talent show by school participants (and
lecturers...) and continue with a wild dancing party (yes, astronomers
can dance...). If you can and are willing to perform in the talent show,
please contact Elad Zinger or Smadar Levy, HU students who volunteered
to coordinate the party,

Massada Tour:
On Saturday, January 3,
a whole-day guided tour of the Dead Sea (the lowest dry point on earth),
including the archeological site
of Massada, the springs of Ein Gedi, and a float on the Dead Sea.
Departure from the Park Plaza hotel is planned for 07:00 (but please check
the latest anouncement on Friday). Return is planned for about 18:00.
The temperatures in the Dead-Sea can be pretty high even in the winter,
so please be prepared with a hat, sunglasses, sun-protection cream,
and a swimsuit.
Jerusalem Tour:
During the afternoon of Monday, January 5,
a half-day guided tour of Jerusalem, focusing on the old city.
Departure from the campus entrance at 12:30.
Lunch in Ramat Rachel as part of the tour.
Return by about 18:00.
School Dinner:
The school dinner is schedulled for Wednesday, January 7,
in the Taverna restaurant.
Departure by bus from the Campus entrance at 20:00 and from the
Park Plaza hotel at 20:15.

or in many other guide pages. An effort will be made to coordinate dinners
in town involving students and lecturers, as part of the informal interaction
that will be strongly encouraged.
